EGAT International Company Limited and Sumitomo Corporation signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on a strategic partnership to accelerate green transformation in the ASEAN region. The collaboration aims to support renewable energy business and develop ASEAN Power Grid, contributing to the economic development of ASEAN and accelerating Thailand to achieve Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emissions.
On November 28, 2023, Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, Deputy Governor – Power Business and Acting Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Mr. Kozo To, President of Sumitomo Corporation Thailand witnessed the signing ceremony of MOU on the Collaboration in Accelerating Green Transformation (GX) in ASEAN Region between EGAT International Company Limited (EGATi) and Sumitomo Corporation, signed by Mr. Bundit Umpornsrisupap, Acting President of EGATi, and Mr. Koichi Taniguchi, Corporate Officer and General Manager – Global Power Infrastructure Business Division of Sumitomo Corporation, at 50 th Anniversary Building, EGAT Headquarters, Nonthaburi Province.
The MOU between EGATi and Sumitomo Corporation aligns with the government’s policy and EGAT’s strategic plan to drive clean and sustainable energy transition by seeking and supporting the development of renewable energy business in ASEAN, as well as accelerating the ASEAN Power Grid concept to optimize energy consumption in ASEAN for a complete green energy transition. This will help develop the economy, community, and environment in ASEAN countries and support Thailand to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero Emissions by 2065.
